The Commuter is an award-winning student run newspaper. Our advisor, Rob Priewe, brings 20 years of experience working for the Corvallis Gazette-Times.
Our reporting represents the student body and faculty through relevant events, topical issues, and extraordinary achievements of those on campus. It is our goal to be current on journalistic trends and creative with content and design as we train to transition into the industry.
The Commuter staff is diverse in interest; news reporters, photographers, fiction and opinion writers, poets, and sports writers. Anyone is welcome to bring his or her particular talent to the paper.
Contact the Editor-in-Chief for interest in team involvement or suggestions.
Talent grants are available to those who contribute on a regular basis as a member of the staff. Available grant money varies per term and is dependent on the position at the paper and level of involvement. Specific questions should be directed to Rob Priewe.
We are a weekly publication. During fall, winter, and spring terms we distribute printed editions every Wednesday on the Albany campus, as well as the four outlying campuses (Benton Center, Sweet Home, and ATTC).
During the summer term we are a monthly printed edition (first Wednesday of each month) and a weekly online edition on Wednesdays we do not print.
