Course Objectives:
The first course of a four-part sequence in a Cisco Networking Academy® curriculum directed toward the Cisco Certified Network Associate® (CCNA) certification. CIS151 is also useful to all computer professionals as a single-term introduction to basic Networking Essentials. The course provides students with classroom and laboratory experience in current networking technology, and includes networking terminology, protocols, network standards, LANs, WANs, OSI model, cabling, cabling tools, safety, network topology, and IP addressing.

CIS151 is the first Networking course in LBCC's Network and Systems Administration Associate of Applied Science degree program, and in LBCC's Certificate in Basic Networking program. Corequisites:

  1. CIS 125 (Introduction to Software Applications),
    or
    equivalent computer experience AND permission of the instructor.
  2. MTH 95 (Intermediate Algebra) or higher.

The CCNA Program at LBCC:

Note that this requires an 8-unit course load during Spring term.

Students who satisfactorily complete the Fall-Winter-Spring course sequence of CIS 151, 152, 153, 154 are eligible to receive LBCC's Certificate in Basic Networking.
